LEARN TO MAKE A VICTORIAN ERA BEADED PICTURE FRAME WITH LOCAL ARTIST STEPHANIE DREHS AT THE HISTORY CENTER.

Award winning artist Stephanie Drehs will teach students how to make a Victorian era beaded picture frame at the Niagara History Center, beginning July 23.

Over a series of four sessions, students will create a beaded velvet frame, approximately 8”x9”. The frame will be decorated will birds and a small flower motif. The raised bead embroidery techniques of the Victorian era will be employed in creating the beaded motifs and edging.

The class, suitable for beginners and experienced beading students, will meet on four Mondays, July 23 & 30, and August 6 & 20, from 3-5p.m. Classes will be held at the History Center’s 215 Niagara St. site.

Drehs, is widely recognized for her skills of beadwork, quilting, and embroidery, and is a frequent instructor at the History Center.

The class fee is $50. Students may bring their own beading supplies or purchase complete bead kits for the project from the teacher for $25. Additional beads are sold in the History Center’s Outwater Emporium Gift Shop.

Please register for the beadwork class by calling the History Center at (716) 434-7433. You will receive a needs list upon registration. There is limited space in this class, so please sign up early.
