Bruce Schwendy will lead a discussion on the historic Erie Canals on Thursday, May 24. His program will address some commonly held myths about canal history and the use and demonstration of canal horns on the canal for signaling. Bruce will include a review of the very early history of Clinton’s Ditch up to 1825 through some fantastic quotes from that time period.

The Traveling Towpath Troubadours will cruise to Lockport to entertain us beside the canal, just outside the Erie Canal Discovery Center. The Towpath Troubadours will perform from 6-8pm. Admission is free and light snacks will be available. Plan to bring your lawn chairs and settle in to enjoy a summer evening of music and fun along the Erie Canal.
