Treasures Under the Tent will offer a wide variety of gift baskets and packages, like this selection from a previous Gala event.

Saturday, August 19, from 6-9 p.m.

Look for more, more, more of all you love at Treasures Under the Tent, an outdoor dinner and auction with exciting new prize items, amped-up menu choices from Lockport’s Shamus restaurant, and casual dress for the party.

We’re pitching a luxurious party tent behind the Erie Canal Discovery Center, 24 Church St., and invite you to join us for an evening of fun and alfresco dining in view of the Erie Canal and downtown Lockport.

Our annual fundraiser for the History Center promises an unforgettable evening, with gift and getaway packages, art, jewelry, restaurant gift certificates and more, all for auction. Our live and silent auctions offer a chance to win spectacular prizes you’ll feel deserve to be called Treasures.

We know you look for entertainment. This year’s Treasures include packages for restaurants, museums, and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Do you like being on the water in the summer? We’ll auction cruise packages, including excursions for Lockport Locks & Erie Canal Cruises and the Moondance Cat.

Sports lovers can look forward to golf packages, including Oak Run and Hickory Stick golf courses, and sports memorabilia from the Buffalo Bills and Sabres.

Packages for local attractions and wineries are sure to please those of you on the go, looking for new fun venues, and Treasures Under the Tent will offer many.

We’ll also auction beautiful decorative and gift items, like a handmade quilt by local artisan Stephanie Drehs, a doll house made by Thomas Drehs, original art, and prints by well-known area artists.

We can’t forget gift baskets and gift cards from area businesses and services, for your favorite wine, sweets, snacks and more.

Niagara County Sheriff Jim Voutour returns as our entertaining and capable auctioneer. Sheriff Voutour’s personality, humor and auctioneering technique add to the fun as he puts these very special prizes up for bid. The Sheriff is a true showman, and you’ll enjoy all he adds to the fast-paced auction.

This year’s delicious and exciting new menu will be provided by the Shamus, Lockport’s premier restaurant, so bring your appetite for fine dining. Many choices of wine and beer will round out your evening.

Casual is the word this year as we add relaxation to the excitement and encourage you to make the most of it. Come in golf shorts and sandals, or wear a suit – it’s up to you. Music by the Heenans will add to the atmosphere, as their Canal-inspired folk/rock/blues mix puts you in a kicked-back kind of mood.

The Niagara History Center is now in its 96th year of preserving and protecting the history of Niagara County and the Erie Canal. Proceeds raised at Treasures Under the Tent will help develop and expand the History Center’s educational programs for adults and children, offered year-round.

During the hours of the Treasures event, our guests are welcome to explore the exhibits of art and artifacts in the Penney Gallery, located on the second floor of the Discovery Center. The Penney Gallery gathers inspiration and artifacts from the life of local philanthropist and collector Charles Rand Penney.

Treasures await! Get your tickets to Treasures Under the Tent for $50. You can also call the History Center at (716) 434-7433. We hope to see you at our tent party August 19!
