Soup & Story – this event has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a future date

The Niagara History Center is renewing its wintertime cabin fever “Soup & Story” event on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., with a delicious meal and a special presentation by the Buffalo Maritime Museum. Following a lunch of soup, bread and dessert, representatives from the Buffalo Maritime Museum will present a program detailing the journey of the boat “Seneca Chief,” as it traveled across New York State during the Erie Canal Bicentennial last summer. You will also learn how the boat was researched and constructed in Buffalo, as well plans for the “Seneca Chief’s” return to Western New York in the summer of 2026. You can also view the History Center’s exhibit, “The Haudenosaunee & the Erie Canal: Dispossession and Displacement” to learn how the construction and subsequent operation of the New York State waterway affected Native American communities across the state.
