Funded through the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, the Ticket to Ride program offers 4th graders the opportunity to both tour the Erie Canal Discovery Center and take the walking tour of the Locks District (see above description) at no charge to school or student. Bus transportation is also paid for by the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor (ECNHC).
Funding is limited. It opens September 1st and is usually allocated by September 15th. Field trips usually take place in May and June can be arranged for September and October.
An outside walking tour of the Locks District is available with “Ticket to Ride” only, weather permitting.
